ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HIGHWAY PROJECTS COMPLETED IN NALLIHAN
On Monday, March 11th, the Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary Tunnel, Nallıhan Bridge, and Connecting Roads, implemented in Ankara, were inaugurated in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and the Director General, Ahmet Gülşen.

The Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary Tunnel, Nallıhan Bridge, and Connecting Roads, located on the Ankara-Beypazarı-Nallıhan-Istanbul route, are significant milestones. He provided details about the project, stating, 'As part of our project adhering to the 2x2 lane, bituminous hot mix-coated divided road standard, we have constructed the double-tube Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary Tunnel spanning 1,278 meters in length, the Nallıhan Bridge measuring 270 meters in length, and we have built it as an inclined footing balanced cantilever bridge without causing any adverse impact on the Davutoğlan Wildlife Development Area. Additionally, we have ensured fast, safe, and comfortable transportation in the area. The existing road, which served before the implementation of our project, will continue to serve our visitors.'

Minister Uraloğlu underscored the commitment to developing and implementing environmentally friendly initiatives, emphasizing the construction of an eco-friendly bridge within the Davutoğlan Wildlife Development Area. He highlighted the significance of this step in contributing to nature preservation without causing harm to the tunnel or wetland areas. Minister Uraloğlu further noted that this is just one aspect of their efforts to increase sustainable practices, with priorities including roadside afforestation, protection of forests, green areas, and water basins, along with research and development endeavors."
Uraloğlu announced that with the completion of the Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary Tunnel, Nallıhan Bridge, and Connecting Roads projects, an annual total savings of 9.6 million Turkish Lira will be achieved, with 6.3 million Lira saved in time and 3.3 million Lira in fuel costs. Additionally, he stated that these projects will contribute to environmental conservation by reducing carbon emissions from vehicles by 394 tons.

At the opening ceremony, Director General Ahmet Gülşen stated, "The Ankara-Beypazarı-Nallıhan Road, connecting Ankara to Istanbul, is not only a transportation route but also plays a critical role in the economic and social life of the region by providing access to the western districts of our capital, living areas, trade, and tourism centers. It serves as the lifeline of commerce. With this awareness, we have implemented the Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary Tunnel and Nallıhan Bridge projects.'
Indicating that the transportation between Ankara and Istanbul has been made safer with the implemented projects, Gülşen mentioned that the total length of the project reached 5 kilometers, including the double-tube tunnel, bridge, and connecting roads built according to the bituminous hot mix-coated divided road standard. The Director General shared details regarding the main items of the project, including 930,000 cubic meters of earthworks, 270,000 cubic meters of tunnel excavation, 136,000 cubic meters of concrete, 8,000 tons of iron, 120,000 tons of asphalt base and subbase, and 65,000 tons of bituminous hot mix production.
Gülşen stated, "With our roads that weave our country like a network, bridging distances and safely connecting people, we contribute to raising the standard of living by facilitating all social and economic activities."
