Project Detail

North Marmara Motorway

The North Marmara Motorway, with a total length of 443 kilometers and 2x4 lanes, construction of which began in 2013 using the Build-Operate-Transfer model, has been opened except for the 45-kilometer Nakkaş-Başakşehir section.

Among the most significant road investments in our country, the project addresses the increased urbanization and industrialization around the east-west main transportation arteries in the North Marmara Region. It aims to separate regional traffic created by urbanization and industrialization from intercity and international traffic passing through the region, thus increasing the quality and safety of transportation services.

The Motorway offers a seamless, safe, and comfortable transit passage for national and international road transportation and freight vehicles. It has facilitated transportation from Istanbul to Kocaeli and Sakarya, where intensive industrial and industrial areas are located, and provided a fast and secure alternative for the existing Trans-European Motorway (TEM) and D-100 Highway, which experience high traffic volumes.

By connecting Tekirdağ and Sakarya with the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Istanbul Airport access roads, the highway has significantly reduced the traffic load, particularly on existing transportation networks and Istanbul Bosphorus crossings.

A significant component of the Marmara Highway Ring, the North Marmara Highway integrates with the operational Istanbul-Izmir Highway and the existing TEM Highway at various points.

In the future, when it connects to the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway, it will establish a high-standard highway network around the Marmara Region, where economic activities are most intense in our country.
