Malkara - Çanakkale Motorway
The Malkara-Çanakkale section (including the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge) of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Motorway Project is 101 kilometers in total, consisting of 89 kilometers of motorway and 12 kilometers of connecting roads.
The project was inaugurated by our President, Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, on March 18, 2022.
The motorway passes to the south of Malkara, west of Şarköy District, and then heads southwest, reaching the Gallipoli Peninsula to the east of Evreşe District. Continuing northward through Gelibolu, the motorway crosses the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge located between Sütlüce and Şekerkaya, and reaches the Şekerkaya area of Lapseki District.
The Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway Project has reduced the travel distance by approximately 40 km compared to the existing divided state road. Additionally, considering the time lost in ferry crossings, a faster passage through the Çanakkale Strait has been provided, resulting in a reduction in travel time. The wait for the ferry and the travel time, which could take hours during holidays and special occasions, has been reduced to 6 minutes.
The completed Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will integrate with the existing transportation infrastructure, including ports, railways, and air transportation systems in the Marmara and Aegean regions. This integration will contribute to the economic development of these regions and facilitate balanced planning and structuring needed for industry and commerce.
The Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway Section, which includes the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, is one of the prestigious projects. It serves as a vital link connecting Istanbul to Çanakkale and, subsequently, to the Northern Aegean region.
