Kahramanmaraş - Divided Highway
Kahramanmaraş - Göksun Road, with a length of 64.1 kilometers, was inaugurated on November 7, 2020.
The road was constructed to the standards of a divided road with a hot mix asphalt surface. It includes a total of 11 double-tube tunnels with a combined length of 2x16.316 meters, 2 viaducts spanning 570 meters, 3 bridges with a total length of 145 meters, and 6 bridge intersections covering a length of 734 meters.
What makes this road special is that the tunnels and viaducts along the route have been named after prominent figures in Turkish literature and culture. Notable poets, writers, intellectuals, and folk poets such as Ali Kutlay, Âşık Mahsuni Şerif, Hayati Vasfi Taşyürek, Abdürrahim Karakoç, Bahaettin Karakoç, Cahit Zarifoğlu, Alaeddin Özdenören, Akif İnan, Rasim Özdenören, Erdem Bayazıt, Nuri Pakdil, Sezai Karakoç, and Necip Fazıl Kısakürek have their names associated with these tunnels and viaducts, collectively referred to as the "Literature Road."
This road's opening marked a significant milestone in North-South axis transportation. It provides a safe and comfortable link from the Central Black Sea Coast and the Central Anatolian Region through Kahramanmaraş to Mediterranean ports, Syrian border crossings, and Middle Eastern countries.
Compared to the old route that covered 80 kilometers in 80 minutes, the new Kahramanmaraş-Göksun Road has significantly reduced the distance to 64.1 kilometers, cutting travel time by half to just 41 minutes.
