Kömürhan Bridge
The Kömürhan Bridge, with a length of 660 meters, was constructed at the crossing point of the Euphrates River (Karakaya Dam Lake) on the D-300 State Road, connecting Elazığ and Malatya with each other and providing a divided road standard for the eastern and southeastern provinces to the west.
Opened on January 2, 2021, the bridge was designed with an inverted Y-shaped tower and ranks fourth in the world literature with a single pylon of 168.5 meters and a central span of 380 meters.
The amount of steel used in the construction of the Kömürhan Bridge is equivalent to the steel used in the Eiffel Tower. Approximately 450 kilometers of welding length was used for the assembly of steel structures, and the cable length connecting the steel segments to the tower is 853 kilometers.
As part of the project, the double-tube Kömürhan Tunnel is 2,400 meters long.
The construction, design, and control of the Kömürhan Bridge and Tunnel were carried out using 100% domestic and national resources, and they were entirely built by Turkish engineers and workers.
Kömürhan Bridge and Tunnel provide convenience in reaching important tourism and trade centers with fast and safe traffic flow, shortening the existing distance by 1 kilometer.
