Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway
The Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway, constructed through the Build-Operate-Transfer Model, is a total of 96 kilometers in length, consisting of 56 kilometers of motorway and 40 kilometers of connection roads. It was fully opened to traffic on February 22, 2020.
The Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway, constructed with 2x3 lanes, is an extension of the Izmir-Aydın, Izmir-Urla-Çeşme, and Izmir Ring Road. It runs parallel to the Izmir-Çanakkale State Road, passing to the west of the Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone and facilitating integration with the motorway network for Çandarlı Port, which is planned to be one of the largest ports in our country.
The steel archaeological bridge built as part of the motorway project is the world's first and only application example that ensures the preservation of the road leading to the Neonteikhos Ancient City and the surrounding historical artifacts.
The Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway connects Izmir to Aliağa and the Çandarlı Port with high-standard roads. It helps alleviate heavy vehicle traffic in the north-south direction, which previously used the city's existing urban roads, thereby reducing traffic congestion in Izmir, Menemen, and Aliağa.
